In one of the rarest incidents, UP government’s PWD
Minister, Shivpal Singh Yadav (also uncle of CM, Akhilesh Yadav) gave eccentric
piece of advice to bureaucrat officials. He said they (officials) deserve a
tiny share of entire public money as remuneration for their hard work to public
service.
Mr. Shivpal was presiding at district program
committee yesterday in Etah. He said he had discussed with PWD officials and
told them to steal little money for their hard work to public service, though advising
them not to behave like dacoits.
His comments ignited fire of criticisms
from political arenas with politicians denouncing and demanding his
resignation. BJP and leaders from other political parties accused Shivpal for “officially
sanctioning” the corruption to bureaucrats.
Later, Shivpal accused media for eavesdropping his closed
door meeting with PWD officials and then concocting his statement irrelevantly. He clarified
his standpoint saying that he meant the eradication of corruption in the bureaucrats
worsened by the erstwhile government.
On being insisted by reporters to say something
about his controversial statements, upset Shivpal accused media for unnecessarily
splitting the hair and targeting him.
