PM Modi's Hindi Speech at UNGC - Transcriptions

When the speaker invited Mr Modi to deliver his speech at UN's 69th session, our PM quoted these lines in his maiden speech there at the United Nations General Assembly. I transcripted from lines 1:51 to 10:50..and couldn't do the rest, as it was too time-consuming. Hopefully, it'd help you comprehend the essence of Modi's Hindi speech. (note, somewhere in the transcription, i wittingly omitted the lines repeated by the PM).

First of all, I extend you all my heartiest thanks to have been elected as adhykash (chief-guest) for the 69th session of United Nations general assembly. It’s a great privilege and honor for me to address you all first time as a pm of India. I am overwhelmed by the hopes and expectations of my beloved Indians. At the same time, I am conscious about the world’s expectations from its 1.25 billion people. India is a nation where the 6th portion of humanity is prosperous. India is undergoing such a transformational phase on social and economy fronts, never witnessed before in the history. Every nation and world’s assumption is representative of their civilization and philosophical customs. India’s long-standing customs perceive entire world as a single united family (kutumb). And when I have to state this, I frankly make it clear that every country has its own philosophy. I am not implying anything about ideology - and the country, inspired by the philosophy, steers ahead. India is a country with time-honored tradition, known as Vashudev kutumbakam (the world is one, single united family). India is a country where communication, not antagonism with nature has been the core part of its life. And this is inspired by the same philosophy that the country has been in touch with since time immemorial. India is a country that has been selflessly advocating for worldwide justice, dignity, opportunity and prosperity. According to our ideology, we have firm adherence to the concept of multilateralism. Today while addressing over here, I am completely conscious to the hopes and expectations tied with the UN. I am so impressed with the unconditional trust that has united us. We laid the groundwork for UN on the ground of great philosophies and outlook, that if our future rests on this, we could accordingly work together to institutionalize peace, security, human rights and global economy reinforcement.

Then, we had 51 member countries in total. Today the UN has flags of 193 free countries fluttering on its building. Every new country, because of this trust and expectation, enters here. We have achieved a lot since the last 60 years, settled many wars, restored peace, lent many places the needed financial aids, contributed financial aids for education to empower the future of poor children and for the eradication of poverty, and we have also been working together in order to safeguard the Earth. In 69 UN peacekeeping operations, we iconized blue helmet as a symbol of peace in the world. Today democracy is pervasive worldwide. In Afghanistan, peaceful political reformation indicates that the desire of Afghan citizens for peace can definitely prevail over violence. Nepal has also marched its paces from war to peace and democracy. In new democracy of Bhutan, there is manifestation of a new strength. In West Asia and South Africa, attempt to raise voice in favor of democracy is being made. The Tunisian success indicates that the march towards democracy is possible. In Africa, a new vigor and awareness for stability, peace and progress is seen. We have witnessed Asia and renascence of its overall development, signifying the power of peace and stability blended together. The continent of boundless opportunities, Latin America is getting united in its mutual cooperation for stability and prosperity. This continent can be the linchpin for world community. India, for its progress, expects a peaceful and still global environment. The future of India rests in peaceful bonhomie with neighboring countries. And this is why, my government, right from the first day, has given the full extent of priority in maintaining bonhomie and extending cooperation with its neighboring countries. And I have the same policy with Pakistan as well. In order to extend friendship and cooperation with Pakistan, I want to establish bilateral dialogue peacefully in an environment without terrorism. But it is also the responsibility of Pakistan to pave the path for suitable environment and seriously come forward for a bilateral dialogue with India. Raising the issue here at UN to facilitate the progress of resolutions is just a dim chance.
