ABCD – ANY BODY CAN DANCE MOVIE REVIEW

Exhilaratingly Wonderful.!!!

I recall Mithun Da starrer, Disco Dancer, which created unprecedented enthralling fervor in the heart of Indian and international audiences (kudos to the movie which made Mithun Da a household name “Jimmy” in Russia). The ABCD is just the reminder of that epic Disco Dancer but this time it came with totally different from the classical blockbuster.

From the begging, the movie manages to keep audiences attracted with its well scripted theme, and most importantly, the stunning sequence of steps. Initially I had an impression of the Hollywood hit, Step Up before watching ABCD, and to a slight extent, some dance steps of the movie have similarity with the Step Up. However, it would be unwise of me if I don’t credit Remo D'souza for his brilliance and praiseworthy talent for making such a gripping movie which has given Indian audiences a legitimate reason to dance after Disco Dancer.

Story Line

The story resonates the reprisal of the hell-bent guy, Vishnu (Prabhu Deva) whose admiration for the dance remains stagnant even after being evicted from the same crew which he choreographed and brought to the limelight. Distraught and depressed off the humiliation of the eviction by ilk-cum-partner, Jehangir Khan (Kay Kay Menon), Vishnu thought upon returning to his native village in Chennai but eventually the destiny gives him another chance to prove himself and his ingrained love for dance.

He picked up immature, inexperienced street urchins/dancers, trained them and then enthralled whole Mumbai and India with superlative dance performance through his crew dancers. Meanwhile, we see several twist of the turns in the plot which absolutely fodder suspense/thrill to the movie.

Undoubtedly the director Remo D'Souza must have done a lot of thesis and contemplations before selecting the best and relevant story line for ABCD. His efforts bear fruit as the movie has really awesome and gripping story line with inclusion of both suspense and sentimental dramatic convulsion of the casts and crews.

Somewhere the storyline seems to be aberrant from the main theme of the movie but then picks up momentum, and after much twist of the turns, climaxes beautifully in the end.

Acting of the casts

Including Prabhu Deva, the whole casts of ABCD seem to have won the heart of audiences. A guy who plays as drug addicts really steals the show along with other casts.

Choreography

The choreography is undoubtedly the most imperative part of ABCD. In fact the UWP (unique watching point) of the movie is its wonderful and stunningly done choreography which sometimes gives audiences an experience of Hollywood dance movies. The Water Dance, to my point of view, is really the most awesome and enthralling dance steps ever choreographed in any Bollywood movies so far.

Why to see ABCD?

If you love dance, then the movie is a good treat for you. Also, the movie is good for audiences who love entertaining movie that can be watched with family, too.

Why not to see ABCD?

If you are not impressed with Prabhudeva’s Hindi dialogue delivery or if you are hardcore fan of action movies. The movie will not attract much to the audiences who are typically impressed with Hollywood’s STEP UP and the related movies as ABCD is comparatively less enthralling than STEP UP in terms of choreography.

Conclusion

The movie is entertaining. It is well scripted and will keep you glued. It will not bore you. The dance steps are impressively choreographed. At least a movie to entertain those audiences who are fed up of typical South flavored Bollywood action movies.
