Satyagraha Movie Review

Time to STAND against Injustice TO THE GANDHIAN WAYS

Well, the cinematic presentation of the movie is not very impressive, but it’s high time we considered the message conveyed from moral and ethical standpoint. THAT India needs to be eradicated from the maladroit and ham-fisted politics which are abominably hollowing the very foundation on which world’s largest democracy was raised.

Key factors of the movie -

Let's start with the movie's leading character, Mr. Bechchan. Playing as ex. Principal in government-sponsored school, the octogenarian eventually becomes the linchpin of the mass rally against politics-sponsored corruptions followed by his slapping an influential administrator and subsequent uproars that it followed thereafter.

Meanwhile, the gung-ho hunk, Arjun (Argun Rampal) assists business turned social volunteer, Manav Raghvendra (Ajay Devgan) to support his movement against politicians with other partners like Dwarka Anand (Amitabh Bachchan), journalist girlfriend Yasmin Ahmed (Kareena Kapoor), team of tech-savvy college students and villagers.

After some cinematic turns, the movie eventually ends with death of Dwarka Anand, leaving the stunned villagers, politicians and administrators into the state of shock following a heart-change with resolve to eradicate corruption by joining politics.

Well, I must say that I am not very impressed with the movie. But I must say the subject is interesting and it speaks of the deep-seated corruption to government system. It talks about social issues of the poor, especially their helplessness to deal with bureaucracy.

Why to watch Satyagraha?

To see Amitabh's powerful acting when he emanates Anna Hazare's frailty yet resolved gusto to stoop politicians before his demands.

If you are one of the audiences who watch totally realistic movies that raise social issues, then Satyagraha is for you.

Though Prakash Jha has added some “dhink chik” hip-swaying voluptuous girls in item song, yet the movie doesn't deviate from its main theme.

At least, the movie may accord to your discretion.
