Ahmedabad: A former BJP MLA, Maya Kodnani, along with Bajrang Dal leader, Babu Bajrangi, were sentenced 25-years life terms by special court for their alleged involvement in brutal Naroda Patia incident. The court sentenced perpetrators life imprisonment till death in connection with post-Godhra riot at Naroda Patia which claimed 97 lives. Other than the duos, the court also sentenced life terms to 31 other convicts in this case.

Kodani, a former member of legislative assembly in the then Modi-led government of Gujrat, was sentenced 18-years life terms for plotting murder and criminal conspiracy, and 10-years life terms for arson. The court also said that the convict wouldn't have to serve both sentences contemporaneously.
